Gina McColl founded The Tell in 2019. She is a licensed Victorian investigator and campaign consultant and former award-winning journalist.
Gina is highly experienced in identifying and overseeing complex, politically sensitive and time-critical investigations.
She is a former deputy editor of The Sunday Age and The Age’s investigations unit, and online editor of BRW. Her agenda-setting series on sexual harassment won the 2017 Gold Our Watch Award, administered by the Walkley Foundation. Her investigative journalism covered medical ethics, over-medication, food safety, regulatory failure, political donations, Chinese donors, Crown Casino, and suicide in the workplace.
She directed the media campaign for Andrew Denton’s Go Gentle Australia in 2017, in support of the Victorian Government’s historic voluntary assisted dying bill. Victoria became the first state in Australia to legalise VAD in November 2017.
